The Annual Day at the Legislature
February 17

The Annual Day at the Legislature is Feb 17, 2026. If you are interested in attending please RSVP to me, indicate if you will go to lunch, and, if so, your lunch choice.
Some of you may choose to drive, some may want to car pool.
Here is an overview of the Day:
Those willing to car pool and those wishing to car pool, meet at the Park and Ride in Monument no later than 7:15 a.m. We need to prearrange the car pool after I know who is willing to drive and those who want to ride. There is public parking lots around the Capitol.
Be sure to meet at the door of the Senate at 9:00 a.m. The hall may be crowded, but we will gather together and go in as one group. We will be ushered to the side of the room where the benches are located. Remember to wear red. Some of us who have been to the Capitol many times may opt to go upstairs to the Gallery to give new attendees opportunity to sit “on the floor”.
We will leave after we have been introduced and watch some of the proceedings. The daily agenda is not available beforehand.
We’ll exit the Senate and go across the hallway to the door of the House and repeat the process.
After observing in House, you may choose to stay observing or go downstairs to Committee Rooms in the basement to observe those meetings. There are signs on the committee room doors identifying the meeting being held within. You can quietly come and go as you please without disrupting the proceedings. Or, go on a tour of the Capitol by meeting upstairs, main floor, at the Visitors Center for a Capitol Tour at 10:00. See below for details.
Lunch: We’ll join up at 11:30 for a short walk to the University Club. Meet on the 1st floor, North entrance, near the Visitors Center for a short walk to the University Club. The cost of the lunch is $30, payable to SRW. Paying by check: send to Holly Williams, 1831 London Carriage Grove, Colorado Springs, CO 80920
There are no refunds for the cost of lunch should you be unable to attend.
Menu choices are: Chicken Marsala: Chicken Breast with Rich Mushroom Marsala Sauce, Pan-Seared Salmon with Creamy Lemon Dill Sauce or vegetarian. Send menu selection to sbankes@comcast.net
Our El Paso County Senators and Representatives have all been invited to lunch. Rep Zamora-Wilson and Minority Leader Jarvis Caldwell get gold stars for immediately accepting their invitation.
