Constitution Day
I fear for our democratic republic, the United States of America, in so many areas. However, I would like to go back to 1787. In that year, 55 of our founding fathers spent from 25 May to 17 September composing the Constitution of the United States. Each year we celebrate this document on 17 September, Constitution Day, This year the 17″ was this past Wednesday. Back in 1787, when Elizabeth Willing Powel asked Benjamin Franklin,”Well, Doctor, what have we got, a monarchy or a republic?”, His reply was “A republic, if you can keep it.”
